The mission of the North Bend Public Library is to provide opportunities to explore, learn, create and connect.
Library Book Club
The library book club meets on the 3rd Monday of each month at 7pm at the library.
Our next gathering is September 21.
We will be discussing the 2026 One Book - One Nebraska book - The Antidote by Karen Russell.
One Book One Nebraska is a statewide reading program that encourages all state residents to read and discuss the same book. This program is sponsored by the Nebraska Library Commission, Humanities Nebraska and the Nebraska Center for the Book.

North Bend Public Library - now accepting resumes for the Library Director Position

The City of North Bend is looking for a Library Director with outstanding leadership skills, joined with a desire and ability to foster relationships and serve the community. The position reports to the Board of Trustees and works with a dedicated staff and directs all library activities.
Primary Job Responsibilities Include:
• Manage the day-to-day library operations of programming, staffing, and building/grounds maintenance
• Develop effective and positive working relationships with community leaders, city leaders, Board of Trustees, and Library staff, as well as Library patrons.
• Management of Library personnel.
• Financial management and develop and maintain the library budget
• Work at least two Saturdays per month
• Performs other duties as assigned and required
• Complete required reports and apply for grants
• Select library materials
• Implements library programs, policies, and objectives as established by the Library Board of Trustees
• Manage the activities of the library and supervise the work of others.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, Library Board members, Library Foundation members, and the general public.
Requirements
• High school diploma/GED required
• Education or experience in the library field helpful but not required
• Obtain required certification through the Nebraska Library Commission’s Public Librarian Certification Program, and maintain certification.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational skills
• Maintains knowledge of standard library principles and practices
• Proficiency with computers, internet, and digital communications
Description: Part-time, Permanent
This position does not include benefits, vacation days, or sick days.
